Description
Composition: Ciprotab infusion supplies as clear almost colourless to pale yellow solution of ciprofloxacin 2mg/ml in a bottle of 100ml.
Each 100ml Contains:
- Ciprofloxacin USP 0.2g
- Sodium Chloride 0.9g
- Water for injection qs.
Description: Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antimicrobial agent with broad spectrum of activity against Gram-positive and Gram negative bacteria including Ps aeruginosa, Klebsiella Enterobacteriaceae and staph. aureus (including Methicillin resistance species Staph. aureus).
Indications: Ciprotab is indicated for the treatment of a wide variety of infections caused by susceptible Gram positive and Gram negative organisms includind mixed infections caused by two or more organisms. It may also be used for infections caused by multi-drugs resistance bacteria.The broad spectrum, antibacterial activity of ciprotab,(including activity against Klebsiella, MRSA Pseudomonas) combined with it excellent tissue penetration enables Ciprotab to be used alone effectively pending on the sensitivity result. However, to provide an effective coverage against anaerobes it may be combine with metronidazole, where presence of anaerobes is suspected. Ciprotab is used for the treatment of the following infections caused by susceptible bacteria : Surgical Prophylaxis, Respiratory Tract Infections, Urinary Tract Infections, E.N.T Infections, Gonorrhea, Skin and Soft Tissue Infections, Gastrointestinal Tract Infections, Gynaecological Infections, Bone and Joint Infections, Severe Systemic Infections.
Contraindications: Ciprotab is contraindicated in individual with a history of hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin or any other Quinolone derivative. Ciprofloxacin has been shown to cause arthropathy in weight bearing joints of immature animals. Though the relevance of this to man is unknown,it’s use in children and adolescents is not recommended.
